In 2006, Ron McCully founded Haul-My-Mess.com out of sheer necessity and grit. Unemployed, broke, and expecting his first child with his girlfriend Melissa, Ron was doing day labor that often didn’t pay. After being sent home yet again without work, he remembered someone mentioning scrap metal as a way to make money. Borrowing his father-in-law’s pickup truck, he and Melissa hit the streets on trash day, collecting scrap and earning their first $48—a small win that sparked a bigger dream.
As Ron dove deeper into the scrap world, steel prices suddenly crashed, cutting their income drastically. Then, a stranger offered old truck rims to scrap and asked for help removing a refrigerator from a basement—that request sparked the idea for junk removal. Ron discovered the emerging industry, built a basic business plan, and by spring 2007, they had a new mission and a newborn. Tragedy struck when his father-in-law passed away, and they lost their only truck. But determination kept them going until they found an old wooden-bed Ford F-350 that became their lifeline and turning point.
From that moment on, Ron and Melissa pushed forward with relentless determination. What began with a borrowed truck became Haul-My-Mess.com—a trusted junk removal and dumpster rental service across Northeast Ohio.
